Netscape Bulks Up Netcenter
January 7th, 2009 |As part of the portal's "Project Turbo" campaign, Netscape signed agreements with several firms including the Rolling Stone Network, Entertainment Tonight Online, Children's Television Workshop, Ask Jeeves, BabyCenter, the Headbone Zone, MaMaMedia, Women.com and Yucky.com. They will provide content in the entertainment and kids and family channels.
No financial terms were disclosed.
Additionally, parenting, movies, television and teens programming is expected to come online soon.
"The Internet is growing at a staggering rate, with over 300 million people expected to be online within the next three years," said Mike Homer, executive vice president and general manager of Netscape's Netcenter division.
"Research tells us that consumers want to get more from the time they spend online. With interactive tools throughout our new programming and best-of-breed relationships, Netscape Netcenter can help users get the most out of each Internet visit," he said.
In addition to today's agreements, Netscape Wednesday increased its local content to international versions of the portal.
