• Hello,

Using dedicated W2K server with remote access, I’d like to know which iis configurations are the most recommended.

    For the domain itself:

The Tab “Ip address and domain name restrictions”: Granted Access (w/o restrictions)

The Tab “Home directory” Tab: Which checkboxes should I check?
    Read.
    Write
    Directory browsing.

For the inside directories (admincp, archive, etc.):
    How should I set them?

Should we administrate the forum via our current dedicated server with remote access?

or we can handle from our non-dedicated IP at our office? (in this case we may have to set some other configurations!

    Thanks,

  • Thanks first for the quick reply.
I'll try to implement your suggestions about the permissions I should grant to vB directories.

About the W2K server, it had, at first, a feature that w2003 has missed.
Now it's to late. Hopefully, next server will be better.

    Thanks again,
    total.

  • Read on all directories. No directory browsing or write privs to anything unless you save attachments as files. Then you give write permissions to the attachement folder, but, make sure you put it above wwwroot.
Remote access is the way to do it. I admin all my servers with remote access. When you connect it is like having your server sitting in the room with you.
Why did you choose win2000 instead of win2003?
