“In the gangsta lifestyle, you end up one of three ways: JAIL CELLS, WHEELCHAIRS, or GRAVEYARDS. It all depends on the choices we make.”
-Ronald Baldridge
Synopsis:
Harsh inner city living, the realities of poverty, and the powerful need to overcome both – these are the factors that often fuel the disparities and rage of the urban ‘gangsta .’ Ronald Baldridge should know. In the late 70’s, he and his brother were growing up under the devoted teachings of a struggling, single mother in the hard and often racially-divided streets of Memphis’ North Side. As Ronald matured, he found himself at the crossroads between continued destitution and the allure of crime and violence. Continued struggles, racist attitudes, a fierce disregard of a biased law system and those elected to enforce it made Ronald’s decision clear. Street philosophy worked; motherly fortitude didn’t. And on that path, Ronald found new direction and status in the guise of a brotherhood called the Gangsta Disciples.
On July 7, 1985, a botched robbery attempt and two bullets would take away Ronald’s ability to walk. This police officer rode in the ambulance to The Med hospital with Ron and witnessed paramedics bring him back to life twice when his heart flat-lined. It would also force him into an unshakeable bond with the embodiment of all he had come to hate, a white police officer named Steve Grisham. Lieutenant Grisham was determined to save Ronald’s life and preserve his future and was relentless in his pursuit of Ronald.
Finally, after passing years, several unforgiving lessons and losses, with a hounding police lieutenant bent on friendship, and three more bullet wounds, twenty four operations, thrown out a car 3 feet in the air 45 mph and several broken bones later Ronald found a new family, a new life, and a new mission: to help those dying in the shadow of the urban nightmare find life in the wide open arms of faith. “From A Gang To God” is one man’s journey from self-destruction to destiny. Ronald Baldridge – Producer/Technical Advisor
Ronald Baldridge is a gang consultant and founder of P.I.A.N.O. Inc., Partners in Alliance Needing Others, a 501c3 non-profit organization, that mentors young boys from single parent homes (predominately single mothers) and works on getting them out of gangs. His passion is working with children in any capacity.
In 2000, Ron formed P.I.A.N.O. Inc., Partners in Alliance Needing Others, a mentoring program to help single mothers with their sons. He mentors them, helps with homework, takes them to church, and teaches them about the consequences of their choices i.e. using drugs, teen violence, gang activity, and the lack of an education.
His life has been threatened on several occasions by gang members for helping young boys get out of gangs. Ron uses the same dedication he had to stay in a gang to help troubled boys walk away from the gang. For the past nine years he has served as an Auxiliary Probation Officer with the Juvenile Court system of Memphis.
During his twenty four years of being confined to a wheelchair, Ron has been shot on five different occasions. He has also broken his left ankle, left hand, right leg, and dislocated his right hip. Ron has endured twenty-four operations, was thrown from a car going 45 mph (flying three feet in the air, landing on his back) and he has severe, chronic back pain everyday. What keeps him going is the drive of giving back and sharing the blessings he has received from God with troubled youth.
Ron has spoken to people in all walks of life - educators, politicians, law enforcement agencies, doctors, teens – and has spoken at churches and several Memphis City and County schools. He has spoken to as little as 2 people up to crowds of 2,000 people at one time, at various locations and through several radio programs –
• John “Bull” Bramlet Ministries Wilder Youth Center September (1987)
• AM 990 – The Light (1996)
• FM 101.1 (1998)
• Words to Live By, Grand Rapids, Michigan (June 2000)
• AM 640-WCRV (2000)
• K-97-On Point talk show (2003)
• Youth for Christ (November 2004)
• Red Ribbon Festival (with Lieutenant Governor John Wilder, and Chief of Police Monroe Jordan), Middleton, Tennessee (November 2004)
• Special Gang Task Force agents’ seminar, Middleton, Tennessee (November 2005)
Ron has also facilitated several youth conferences –
• The Regional Medical Center Spinal Cord Peer Counseling (1988-2000)
• Y-DAC Youth Detention Facilities (February 2002)
• Bridges, Memphis, Tennessee (February 2006)
• Memphis Job Corps (June 9, 2006)
WREG-Channel 3 in Memphis, Tennessee, produced a 30-minute special about Ron called “Beating the Odds” (April 1996). He was featured in a front-page newspaper article for the Commercial Appeal by Wendy C. Thomas, “Could A God Love Me” (August 2004), the Spirit of Memphis magazine (October 2005), featured in Proud Magazine “From A Gang to God” by Jonathan Devin (December 2005), and Memphis Tri-state Defender “Redemption” by Wiley Henry (May 27-31, 2006). Ron’s life story has been told in over ten countries through Words To Live By (RBC Ministries).
Ron is the recipient of numerous awards –
• FM Hot 107(1997)
• Juvenile Court (1999-2005)
• The Tom Joyner Morning Show, “Real Father Real Men” contest (June 2001)
• K-97 radio Peace Achiever of the Month for March (2003)
• The prestigious Nobel Prize called The Jefferson Award created by Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis, former Senator Robert Taft, Jr., and Sam Beard of the Commercial Appeal (April 14, 2005)
Ron is presently at work on his autobiography. If you would like more information about Ron and his organization or to arrange for speaking engagements please contact him at (901) 649-8585, or email baldridgerb@aol.com.

Not many people who listen to the Michael Baisden Show are starting their own TV network, but we are!
It's called Indie Dish. It will be a forum for independent artists of all types, (music, films, tv) and also screenwriters, producers, directors, animators etc. to showcase their various talents and increase their exposure. We're taking the concept of an MTV, BET, VH1, HBO, etc, and bringing it to the local level, and it is all black owned and operated. We are presently seeking high quality video content from all independent artists. If they do not have it and want it, we can produce it for them!
We are also giving small local advertisers a chance to be on TV that may have been out of their reach in the past, while simultaneously reaching an audience that they may not have been able to reach before.
We'll be debuting in the Atlanta area, on Comcast channel 150 in early October (set for this Saturday, October 6, 8pm) where we will be available to approximately 500,000 Comcast subscribers in the metro Atlanta area, with plans to expand to every major market in the country, and eventually offering a package of several original channels.
