a reflection...
January 6th, 2009 |besides the fact that i think she's utterly beatiful and breathtaking... (what parent doesn't think that about their offspring, though?)
i'm so overwhelmingly grateful for her and so blessed to have her in my life today.
when she was just shy of turning four years old, she was in a two car accident and ultimately the soul survivor of that accident.
the accident claimed five lives that day, including her fathers.
she made it out with only bruises on her shoulder and thighs from her carseat.
our connection is strong. our bond - unbreakable.
she has a caring, loving and some days it seems, a very old soul.
she's been to hell and back.
seen and experienced more in those two hours on a lonely highway in the nevada desert than most adults have in a lifetime.
she is stronger for it, and at times those haunting eyes show it.
i do my best as a parent to lead her in the right direction in life as she gets older.
teach her the things i think she needs to know to be successful in life.
in return, she teaches me to be strong and endure through hard times.
her smile lights up the room and makes everything ok.
she makes my life glad and my soul happy.
and she adds a certain joy of her own that i'm sure only she could add.
i'm truly blessed.
she is my gianna.
and i am grateful for her every day.
